Storyboards!

Storyboards for Final Frontier: Part One have been added to the Gallery. There's a whole bunch of them. These would not have happened without the hard work of artist Mei-Yi Chun, who did an amazing job of translating our meager words into some great images that help to provide a rough idea of what the final product would have been. You can check out Mei-Yi's website right here if you'd like to see some of his other work.

Were storyboards only created for part 1, or do they exist for all five parts?

Right now just part one, as our budget is zero. We're hoping to get some more completed in the future.

Looks great! I hope sometime in the future this will be animated. This concept has great potential. One question: Why doesn't the USS Enterprise have a traditional registry?

Thanks! The registry number is temporary, we hadn't decided what it was going to be yet but it would have been more traditional than what's on the model.

Doug, this is amazing stuff, why CBS/Paramount put this on the dev. hell back burner is something we all should be questioning. This concept pushes the series into a brave new direction that it should take, further than JJ Trek(which was decent in its own right). Id love to see you guys get this out as an direct OAV release, similar to what DC has done w/ their comic properties or even as a weekly series. I'm curious, would the project been a mixed cel/CGI or full CGI animated?

Is there any color image of Jax other than the title banner? And what species is she?

There's no other art for Jax right now. We hadn't decided on her species but she probably would have ended up looking even more alien than just having green skin. She's a pretty minor character in the pilot story, but there were big plans for her...

I am very sorry I don't mean to be rude but those ship designs are UGLY! They just don't look at all like anything from Star Trek.
The story might have been very good but those ships would have been so distracting I don't think I could have enjoyed it.

These are concept designs. They are not pixel-for-pixel what you would have seen on screen. They're close, in some cases (the dragonflies). In addition, part of our design mentality was to have some ships that didn't "look like Star Trek" to symbolize how much things have changed. In the future (well, our future's future), when things started going in the right direction, we would have seen a return to the older style. Thanks for commenting!
